for himself - thank you, Carol, for allowing him to come and live with me at

PERZEENA CATTERY - a brief history
I
have been involved with breeding Persians since 1970, starting with a
little blue Persian female, POPPINS LINDY LOU, and her sister, POPPINS
MARYANNE, then branched out into the Siamese/Oriental world in 1996 with
the gift of a cream point Siamese male kitten, GRAYLYN SURFER JOE.
Joe was a pet but was shown occasionally and he loved to
"help" me when I went to check the mailbox. He liked to
be carried on my shoulders, making sure that the mailman had been - he
has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and is sadly missed, but whilst he was
with me, he was a delight to own.
My
show career began in 1970 with Persian cats. I have
been very successful with these beautiful longhairs, especially with my
blue cream girl, GL DB GD & CCCA TPL GD CH (ACT TPL GD CH) BABILA
SILK WINDEYER (Wendy), who took out NSW Female Cat of the Year two years
in succession (1992- 1993 (Equal in '93)). Wendy was a delightful cat and
was so well known in the Cat Fancy that when she passed away many
people, even those I didn't know very well, gave me their deepest
condolences. This photo was taken in May, 1990 after Wendy won
Best Female Cat in Show and Best Cat in show at Coffs Harbour.

Wendy
- CCCA Tp Gd Ch & Gl Db Gd Ch Babila Silk Windeyer
Wendy
had the correct coat pattern, like shot silk, and the biggest eyes -
they were like
copper pennies. She went missing for a week several years ago and
eventually, after an advertisement was placed in the local paper, was
found at a neighbour's home. When I received the phone call, my
friend and I were there in a flash! The cat was Wendy and she
seemed to say "Well, Mum, where were you? I've been waiting
for ages!". She was cuddled and cosseted and an eye kept on
her for evermore.
My
beautiful orange eyed white boy, DB GD & CCCA CH PERZEENA DRIFTS
SON, was the first male cat in NSW (I think) to become a CCCA Champion in 1985.
He
was also the NSW Male Cat of the Year for 1985 - a fact of which I am
very proud. Sadly now departed, Drifter was my "son" - a
lovely white boy whose son, DB GD CH PERZEENA DRIFTS IMAGE (Snoman),
passed away five years ago at the age of 12. Sno gained his Double
Grand Champion title.
My
first Siamese male cat, GL DB GD & CCCA CH TOMADAH CHAINTI CLASSICO,
was a lovely cream point Siamese, who sired some lovely kittens, three
of which had Best in Show awards. The first, ELIREW BLU MIKADO, a
blue point boy, was Best Kitten and Supreme Exhibit at the 1998 Coffs
Harbour Agricultural Society Show; the second, PERZEENA CHIANG MAI, a
seal point boy, was Best Kitten in Show (Northern Rivers Cat Club) and
Best Male Cat in Show (Casino Show Society Inc) in 1998. The
third, CH PERZEENA CHOC LA CREME, a chocolate point boy owned by Paju,
was Best Male Cat In Show twice in 1999 (Coffs Harbour Agricultural Show
and Casino Show Society Inc) and was 3rd Male Cat in Show at Kempsey Kat
Klub's 1999 show. Perhaps these were "lucky shows" for
these boys?

Gl
Db Gd Ch & CCCA Ch Tomadah Chainti Classico (R2) - photo taken by Dr
Truda Straede, Sydney Royal Easter Show, 1997.
Their
sire also won Best Male Cat in Show at the 1997 Coffs Harbour
Agricultural Show as well. R2 (as he was named) did very well for
himself - his win at the Sydney Royal Easter Show is the one I remember
best because it was 1997, the last year that the show was held at the
old Sydney Showground and also my first year showing Siamese &
Orientals at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. He had good type and colour - he also loved
his mum, who misses him very much.
My
next boy is GL DB GD & CCCA CH FRETOMAU CHEQUITO, a beautiful brown
Oriental. He also has done well, winning Best in Show and Best of
Breed awards at shows both as a kitten and as an adult.
Cheeko has good type and a lovely rich brown colour, with the green eyes
typical of his breed. He, too, has a loving nature and he has
thrown some very nice kittens.
My
next boy is CCCA & GL DB GD CH MONRAAV PERCIUS (Percy), a beautiful lilac
Oriental who has had several Best in Show awards in 1999 as a kitten and
then, in 2000, many more. Percy has good type, colour and a
l-o-n-g body with a whippy tail to match. He has shaped up into a
very nice boy and 2000 was definitely his year. Best In
Show at Northern Rivers Cat Club, Casino Ag Show Society and In Show
awards at all shows he attended in 2000.

Gl
Db Gd Ch & CCCA Ch Monraav Percius - lilac Oriental male cat
These
girls joined my boys - GL DB GD CH PERZEENA
CHYNA BLUE (blue tortie) and MAYTEAKO TABBY TABITHA, a lovely lilac spotted tabby
Oriental. I am hoping that she will be an asset to my
Siamese/Oriental breeding programme. My Siamese queen is CH TOMADAH
MARS BAR, a seal tortoiseshell point Siamese. I also have been
lucky to have CH FRETOMAU DARK PRINCESS, a chocolate point Siamese girl,
come into my life earlier this year - she has done quite well on the
bench and, together with the other girls, is a lovely lady.
I
love the tortie and red point Siamese and have been attempting, since
beginning in the breed, to breed my own tortie and red points, together
with cream points. My favourite colours in Persians are the blue,
cream and blue creams - but I appreciate the beauty of all colours of all
Persians.
I
have also recently begun a love affair with a beautiful Abyssinian after
living with those at Paju for several years! I've always wanted
one for myself and have been lucky enough to meet this charming
gentleman, Osiris (V) Alchera. The photo below is of myself with Big Al, my lovely
tawny Abyssinian neuter. Thank you Sue, for allowing him to be a
part of my life.

Osiris
(V) Alchera, tawny Abyssinian neuter (bred by Sue Jentsch, Osiris
Abyssinians, Victoria) - with me, his proud owner.
An
update on my Abyssinian ownership - last Easter, I welcomed a lovely
tawny Abyssinian female kitten to my "feline family" - Nareira
Al's Delight - who is Osiris (V) Alchera's grand-daughter. Alice,
as she is known to all of us here, is a total delight - a cheeky, lively
little girl who loves all who bow down to her. Paju's Abys and
Somalis said that she will have to learn her manners when she first
arrived, in the company of her sister, Nareira Dreamtime, and Nareira
Samarian Sunset ... needless to say, she has. LOL Alice will
be shown as a spay ... I am looking forward to showing her in the
Desexed classes next year, although she
has been shown as a female and won her very first Challenge at Taree in
October. I am very proud of her ... :)
MY
CURRENT POSITION WITHIN NSW CFA INC.
I
am a licensed judge of companion cats, those furry feline friends who do
not have a pedigree or who have not been registered by their original
breeders. This is a position I enjoy very much and I have been
licensed since 1997. I have judged the domestic classes in Sydney,
Griffith, Bathurst, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour and Lismore and each time the
assignment has been completely different. I have been judging on the NSW
North Coast during 2004 and in Sydney in 2001.
ABOUT
MYSELF AND MY OTHER INTERESTS
I
have been a devoted follower of the South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League
team since childhood, "born with one red eye and one green
eye" and will not eat
rabbit meat. It is
against my "religion". I love my football and my friends
say that I become quite vocal when I watch my favourite team play ...........
UP
THE MIGHTY
RABBITOHS!
My
prayers (along with every other die-hard Rabbitohs fan) have been
answered! The mighty South Sydney is BACK in the NRL
competition ... we shall overcome all adversity and will once again
triumph!!! Three cheers for the MIGHTY RABBITOHS!!!!!!
Hip Hip Hooray .... I'm so happy about this :))
My
very favourite singer is ..... SIR
CLIFF RICHARD
My
very favourite
singer is Cliff Richard and I have so many of his songs on records,
tapes and CDs that I drive my friends crazy (they don't mind Cliff
Richard's music, but not as much as I do) ... their musical tastes run
to other things. Check out their site - PAJU CATTERY - to see (and
hear) what I mean. I also have an interest in the movies,
particularly the older musicals like "Oklahoma" and
"Carousel" and enjoy the music of the '50s, '60s, '70s and
some of the '80s.
I
also like John Farnham and the Bee Gees. My friends have owned up
to having "Sadie The Cleaning Lady" in their record
collection, but ask them and they won't admit it! I've had a Cliff Richard
midi added to my site .... hooray!!! This is a
lovely surprise - he is, as I've said, my very
favourite singer!
I
also have a great love of Arabian horses - I have always greatly admired
these graceful and elegant creatures. I would love to have owned
one, but never have had the opportunity. I can always look at
photos, TV and books - my passion for Arabians is appeased in this
manner.
In
the '60s and '70s I also bred dachshunds in partnership with my late
father, Len, under the prefix of Lenolyn and we had success with them. I still love this breed
of dog, together with the Pekinese breed - perhaps this is where I
formed my love of Persian (longhaired) cats?
I
like to go on bus trips to anywhere I haven't been before. I've
travelled quite extensively in NSW with the cats, even having a couple
of trips north to Queensland, but I enjoyed bus trips away many years
ago when I lived in Sydney. I even followed my beloved Rabbitohs
to the country to watch them play ... yes, I am a devoted fan!
I
now live on the NSW Mid North Coast with my friends - we travel to the
shows in the local area (Lismore - Newcastle), sometimes going to
Sydney, but the show scene here is quite active and can get lively.
We are surrounded by nature - so many birds live here who didn't care
about the cats - and the area is quiet and peaceful, not like the
"rat race" of the big city. The birds settle in the
native trees which are in abundance around the property and everyone
co-exists quite happily ... the magpies and kookaburras all enjoy the
meat which the cats sometimes leave and these feathered friends are
quite tame, for they don't fly away in fright at the sight of any
humans. In fact, there is a family here now who are very tame,
except for "Father Magpie", who is still unsure of himself,
and this feathered family survives quite happily on the nightly
"handouts". One bird even insists on food for herself -
this is my pet, "Mrs Maggie".
My
friend has set this site up and I hope that it will work as she has been
working on it late at night, spending hours at the keyboard, putting in
the music and photographs etc. The whole site has been completely
redone (Paju, Perzeena and the Kempsey Kat Klub) as
the computer crashed and everything, including these pages, had to be
painstakingly retyped!! A lot of work.
If
you would like to contact me, please click on the Oriental with a
sparkle in her eye, and I shall get back to you as soon as I can.
To
e-mail me (Lyn) at Perzeena - please click on the cat ....
I
hope you have enjoyed this page and enjoyed the site ..... and thank you for coming to visit us.
