BALINESE |
| The exotic Balinese is a longhaired version
of the Siamese .. without that loud voice! Balinese voices are quieter,
although they can
be loud when they wish to be. Colours are seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red,
cream point ... also seal, blue, chocolate and lilac tabby (lynx) point and seal, blue,
chocolate and lilac tortoiseshell point. The Balinese temperament is wonderful -
they are a very loving cat, devoted to their owners and make great pets for everyone.
The Balinese has the same blue eyes as the Siamese .. type is the same
as for Siamese, with the exception of the longer coat and the wonderful plumed tail. We breed seal, blue, cream, seal tortoiseshell and blue tortoiseshell points - however, our seal tortoiseshell queen, Gl Db Gd Ch Baljava Sprinkles, carries chocolate and we also have another girl, Kelwa Brookong Tee-ah, a lilac point variant. With these two girls, we are hoping to get chocolate and lilac in our lines - they are also valuable as they are almost complete outcrosses to our boys. Our cream point boy, Sv Db Gd Ch Fretomau Bali Kuning (he gained this title at Kempsey Kat Klub's show last weekend), is hopefully a chocolate carrier as well and from him we are hoping to get chocolate and lilac. He has so far produced seal, blue, seal tortoiseshell and blue tortoiseshell this season - perhaps next season we will get our chocolate and lilac points? It would also be nice to breed these colours in the tortoiseshell series - but that is in the future.
Sv Db Gd Ch Fretomau Bali Kuning - cream point Balinese male cat - at the CCCA National, Sydney, 2003. He was Best Balinese in all three rings at this prestigious show!
Sv Db Gd Ch Fretomau Bali Kuning at Tamworth & District Cat Club Inc's show, 2004 - held by Paul, who was stewarding. "Whizzle" had a good day out - 2nd in Show in one ring was his best result, with Top 5 placings in the other two rings as well. Our studs are: Silver Db Gd Ch Fretomau Swiftly Blue - blue point; Gold Db Gd Ch Paju Ketut - blue point; Silver Db Gd Ch Fretomau Bali Kuning - cream point. We have also been blessed with the arrival of Ch Glenferry Brandy Snaps (father of BDGC Fretomau Bali Kuning), another stunning cream point boy, who will be a welcome addition to the family. Our queens are: Bz Db Gd Ch Fretomau Bali Maryna - blue tortoiseshell point; Gl Db Gd Ch Baljava Sprinkles - seal tortoiseshell point; Gd Ch Paju Anak Kucing - blue point; Kelwa Brookong Tee-ah - lilac point variant and Fretomau Pandamonium - seal point. Joining us recently are several more stunning ladies - Fretomau Catanak - seal point (sister to Pandamonium); Fretomau Shirra Lee - blue tortoiseshell point (now a Champion!); Fretomau Creme Velvet - cream point and Fretomau Bali Samantha - seal point.
Gl Db Gd Ch Paju Ketut - blue point Balinese male - son of Sv Db Gd Ch Fretomau Swiftly Blue and Bz Db Gd Ch Fretomau Bali Maryna
Ketut's favourite pastime - munching cat biscuits! NRCC show, 2004. He was once again Best Balinese Male Cat in Show and received placings in the Top 5 ... not far to Gold now, Ketut. :) (see announcement at bottom of page for the latest update on this little character) Life with these cats is great fun - you never know what mischief they'll get into next. Our very first Balinese was a blue point neuter, Fretomau Moonraker (known to us as Jimmy), a beautiful little cat, who was loved very much. He was shown once for a Best in Section win but then we pulled him from the bench .... sadly he passed over at a young age, but we were soon joined by our wonderful Fretomau Bali Maryna (known as Beepa or Bali .. it depends on her mood), a very spoilt little girl who won us over by her beautiful nature and also, by being a "bossy kinda gal". She is the mother of SDGC Paju Ketut, who has her delightful nature as well, and of our other cream point boy, Paju Beruntung, plus being grandmother to our young blue point girl, Ch Paju Anak Kucing.
Bz Db Gd Ch Fretomau Bali Maryna (blue tortoiseshell point Balinese female) - aka Beepa - taking a bow HERE THEY ARE AT LAST!!! Beepa's Babies - their first photo ... red (was cream) point girl (left) and blue point boy (right). These babies are still officially unnamed, but I've given them the nicknames of Jack and Jill (very original, aren't I? :) ) - aka, the Wild Ones. Their father's photo is on Perzeena's page ... he is Ch Tomadah Dolcetto - red point Siamese. Click on the kids' photo to see him with his "human mum", Lyn. I haven't taken any updated photos of these kittens as yet :(, but they will be officially registered as Paju Vishnu (the blue point boy) and Paju Vainavi (the red point girl) as soon as possible. They have both developed into lovely little cats ... quite typey and I feel that they will have a lot to add to the Balinese breed. "Jack" is a very solid boy and is an almost total outcross to the girls here ... "Jill" will be an asset to our lads as well, although she won't be a mate for Ketut, her half-brother, as I feel that this could be much too close. SDGC Fretomau Swiftly Blue (known as Boopoo) is a gorgeous boy ... he is the sire of GDGC Paju Ketut .. with a good nature, although as he gets older, he is getting quieter. He hasn't been shown for a year but may come out on the bench in 2005 - we would like to get him up to his Gold Db Gd Champion title as there aren't many Balinese on the bench here. Ketut has been shown this year, together with "Whizzle" (SDGC Fretomau Bali Kuning) - I love showing these cats as they seem to enjoy the day out too. "KT" is the ultimate showman, a cat who enjoys the attention - this, I feel, comes from his mother, who is a great performer and loves all the attention - however, she doesn't like it when some other feline takes it from her .. :)
Sv Db Gd Ch Fretomau Swiftly Blue (blue point Balinese male) - aka Boopoo Db Gd Ch Fretomau Bekhshara (aka Bessie or Gentle Bess) is one of the sweetest little cats I've ever known. She is the mother of our neuter, Ballz; she is a girl with a very gentle disposition and not once have I seen her lose her temper. She has had her fair share of wins on the show bench too - even a Best in Show, which she deserved as she is a beautiful cat (yes, I am very biased here). She hasn't been shown that much, but made her first appearance for 2004 at Tamworth & District Cat Club's show at the beginning of September .. and then at the inaugural Taree Show Society's cat show. She just missed out on her Double Grand at Tamworth - so she was shown at Taree to get that one last Challenge Certificate. Good luck, Bessie - you did it! UPDATE (OCT 2004) - Bessie is now offically titled as ... DB GD CH FRETOMAU BEKHSHARA .... good on you, Bessie!!!! You did it as we knew you would ... :)))
Db Gd Ch Fretomau Bekhshara (blue tortoiseshell point female Balinese) - aka Bessie - winning Best in Show at Northern Rivers, 2001 Sadness always strikes when we least expect it :( ... Bessie sadly passed over the Rainbow Bridge early on Thursday morning (5th May, 2005) of suspected kidney failure. She will be remembered as a loving little soul, who would take great delight in jumping from great heights and landing on one's back or shoulders, making us jump! She has joined her son, Ballz, and our other dearly departed felines ..... Bessie, you are very sadly missed by all here. RIP little one ... :*( ... you did, at last, gain your Double Grand Champion title too, but you were so much more than this ... you were a much loved little friend. Gl Db Gd Ch Baljava Sprinkles came to us a couple of years ago .. she's a delightful seal tortoiseshell Balinese, who loves her cuddles, pats and hugs, chirrips to us when she wants something and has fitted in very well with her "Bali pals". She's done very well on the show bench too - gaining two Supremes in Show at the last Casino cat show (2001), which was a total shock to us! - and is the mother of our girls ... Gd Ch Paju Anak Kucing, DGC Paju Mengejabkan Mata (aka Twinkles) and Ch Paju Nakal Kucing (sadly both these girls are now deceased). STOP PRESS - Bz Db Gd Ch Baljava Sprinkles gained her SILVER DB GD CH title last weekend .... she's going to now have a short break and then next year, go for the GOLD! I have a very nice photo of her, taken at Nambucca Heads, with her prizes on top of the cage ... and here she is in all her glory! :) We are very proud of our girl ... congrats on the new title, Sprinkles! Not far now to Gold for you :) Update on Sprinkles' "Gold" status - she is only about 2 points away from this title now, so we are hoping that one more show in 2005 will get her there. She is still a lovely girl of course, and did quite well at Kempsey last weekend - being in the "O Gene Specialty Ring's" Top 10 ... way to go, Sprinkles!!! AN UPDATE FROM AUGUST, 05 - SDGC Baljava Sprinkles is now GOLD DB GD CHAMPION!! She made up her title at Kempsey Kat Klub's show in August and now is officially retired from the show bench to be the lovely, sweet pet she always has been. We are very pleased for her too .... her daughter, Ch Paju Anak Kucing, also became a Grand Champion last weekend at the Lismore show!!! Way to go, girls ... :)))
Gl Db Gd Ch Baljava Sprinkles - seal tortoiseshell point Balinese female cat. Photo taken at NRCC show, 2004, where she has just become a Silver Db Gd Champion. Sprinkles is quite proud of herself as she's got a few prizes on her cage .... :) So were we! These girls have done well - we have made up Anak's title in 2004 - with Mata doing extremely well in 2003. No Best in Shows for them as yet, but Mata was Best Balinese Cat at nearly every show she attended! However, there is a lot of work to be done with this beautiful breed and we are in it for the long run .... STOP PRESS (again): Our blue point Balinese girl, Anak, became a Champion at the Taree Show Society's 1st cat show on 9 September, 2004 and is now officially CH PAJU ANAK KUCING! This gives her mum, Sprinkles, 3 titled offspring - we only need 2 more to go and Sprinkles will have earned her "DM" title (Distinguished Merit) ... this is something we will think about in the future. ANOTHER "ANNY" UPDATE: Ch Paju Anak Kucing is now a GRAND CHAMPION - I haven't yet claimed this title for her, but she definitely is Grand ... she doesn't care though as she's just the same sweet little kitty she always has been - she is also happy not to be going to shows for a time now - it's summer! I took a couple of photos of her during judging at the show in Lismore, so am hoping that they'll be suitable to put on this page .. haven't downloaded them off the camera as yet!!! :) The cream point boys - SDGC Fretomau Bali Kuning and Paju Beruntung ("Whizzle" and "Lucky" respectively) - live together happily. Whizzle has done very well on the bench in 2003 and 2004 and we are looking forward to showing him in 2005 again. We haven't shown Lucky at all, but we enjoy his company .. he is like his big brother, Ketut, a warm and loving boy, who is prone to having "crazy days", when he races around like a maniac - although with the girls calling, he has to be confined to quarters with his mate, Whizzle (they are not impressed with that idea - poor lads). STOP PRESS (May 2004): "Whizzle" did very well at the Coffs Harbour Ag Society, 2004 - when he was named 2nd Male In Show in one ring - 3rd Male in Show in the other two rings .. he was also awarded 3 very important certificates (CCCA Awards) - 10 of these will make him an Australian Champion! Yes, we are very pleased with this :) An update on "Whizzle" ... he is now Silver Db Gd Ch Fretomau Bali Kuning ... I didn't know how close he was, but the little guy went over the top and is now looking towards becoming another "golden lad". Good on ya, Whizzle! Your Mums and Dads (both feline and human) are very proud of you ... :) Kelwa Brookong Tee-ah is a lilac point variant lady who came to us in 2003. She has taken a short time to get used to living with other felines, but she's coped very well and has finally settled into her own niche. Tee-ah has good type and coat colour, beautiful eye colour (lilacs don't have the deep eye colour of, say, seal points) and a sweet nature, although she has a habit of jumping up onto our shoulders when we aren't looking! As she is a variant, she won't be shown .. but we enjoy having this little livewire's company - actually, I don't think she'd enjoy the show scene very much as she's more a homebody :) - but then, all of them are here! Here are a couple of shots of Tee-ah. She doesn't particularly like her photo taken (can't say I blame her .. I hate it too!) but I managed to get these before Tee-ah scampered away, on her own agenda.
Kelwa Brookong Tee-ah - lilac point Balinese variant female cat. Tee-ah is Sprinkle's niece and is a very good lilac colour - her points are a "mushroomy" lilac which is the correct shade, with a very white coat ("magnolia white" according to the standard). Photos taken 25.3.05 .... and very quickly, I might add. :) Our youngest Balinese girl is Fretomau Pandamonium, a delightful little seal point Balinese - she will be an asset as she also could possibly carry chocolate ... when she is older, we shall find out from a mating with Whizzle. We may get seal, seal tortie and red points from this particular mating .. perhaps cream, blue and blue tortie points too - it depends on whether she carries blue or not. I expect all seal point carrying blue when she is mated to either Boopoo or Ketut, possibly late next year. She has good type and colour - beautiful eye colour - and is just like a seal point Siamese, only fluffier! More sad news - our little blue point neutered boy, Ballz, passed away suddenly last Monday. He will be very sadly missed by all of us here - his dad hasn't said too much, but I do know he is missing his Ballz very much. RIP, little mate - your photos don't do you justice but at least we have beautiful memories of you .... you are now with Uncle Jimmy, and other relatives, who no doubt will have shown you around the Rainbow Bridge by now. Sadly, when you live with fur kids, there is always a time when you have to say goodbye - it doesn't get any easier ............ does it? :'(
We have just become the proud owners of Whizzle's parents - Ch Glenferry Brandy Snaps and Fretomau Shirra Lee ... two beautiful Balinese cats, who will be an asset to our breeding program! Also newly arrived are: Fretomau Bali Samantha and Fretomau Catanak, two delightful seal point girls (Sam has just walked in and said "I'm here!"), plus Fretomau Cream Velvet, a lovely cream point girl and a longhaired foreign white variant boy, Fretomau Sno Cloud. The future could be very interesting with these kids' arrival .... "Brandy" and "Shirra Lee" have produced lilac and lilac tortie points before, so they'll be able to do that again!!! Happy days ..... thank you, Fred and Maureen, for the chance to share our lives with your beautiful cats! Photos will be posted when I finally get a chance to take some .... I want to give the cats time to settle in first. :) STOP PRESS (April 2005): Ketut is now officially GOLD DB GD CHAMPION PAJU KETUT!!! He is the very first Paju cat to gain this title and we are very, very proud of him. Below are a couple of photos taken at the Coffs Harbour Show Society Inc's 2005 show (23-4-05), the day he got that very last Challenge Certificate ..... of course, he is the same Ketut - a funny, loving and very much loved little character. Good
on you, KT - you truly deserve these accolades .... :D :D
:D
After judging - 23 May, 2005 - at Coffs Harbour, NSW. Ketut after gaining his last Challenge certificate to name him - GOLD DOUBLE GRAND CHAMPION PAJU KETUT. BALINESE UPDATE ... in April, we were lucky to be joined by a gorgeous lilac point Balinese boy, Hildale Dylan, who hails from southern NSW. He has the longest and thickest coat I've seen on a Bali and I'm hoping for good things from him in the future. Dylan is 10 years old, so I don't know about showing him, but he has everything - great type, good colour and most importantly, he is a very sweet natured boy although he doesn't particularly care for other cats (at the moment anyway). All I can say is that with Dylan's arrival - chocolates aren't far away!!!! :)
Hildale Dylan - lilac point Balinese male - is an absolutely magnificent boy from completely outcrossed lines. He will be a wonderful asset and will also help us with the chocolate/lilac colours in our Balinese. A sook too - in the photo he was kneading away very happily. A bit of very sad news .. sweet little Pandemonium ("Panda Bear") passed away on Wednesday (24/8) in her sleep. We are very sad - but she is now sleeping peacefully and will be remembered always as that crazy little critter who loved to scamper everywhere - nothing sedate about The Panda! However, the day after she passed over the Rainbow Bridge to meet the rest of "our crew", we discovered that her sister, Fretomau Catanak, is in kitten! We are looking forward to a litter of seals - maybe seal torties - and perhaps some other colours which we haven't yet had ... chocolates and lilacs. Fingers crossed for her .. she is not impressed. *smiles* So perhaps Panda Bear sent a message thru her sister - "don't worry about me, I shall return". I like to think so ..... Something happier - Fretomau Shirra Lee (blue tortoiseshell point lady - mother of Whizzle and Velvet) is now a CHAMPION! She gained her last challenge points at Kempsey Kat Klub on Saturday .... so that means that two of our Balinese gained new titles at a show! Sprinkles is Gold Db Gd Ch and Ch Paju Anak Kucing is a Grand Champion - I'm satisfied .... until next year, that is. |
