| A STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE My name is Douglas Hamilton of NSW, Australia. I am retired and my interests include discography, Reformed theology, and genealogy. Information on recordings of my interest for the 30's, 40's and 50's. I obtained my first 78 disc in 1948 and collected many. In the late 1950's I bought a disc recording lathe and cut them onto LP acetate, and eventually discarded the record cutter when the first cassette recorders arrived. Unwisely I got rid of the 78's to save bulk, unfortunately not writing down most of the label data. I concentrated on LP's and tapes, and then CD's. In 1998 I disposed of all discs, and the record playing equipment, only using tapes and CD's. I have transferred many tracks to CD in MP3 format, as over 200 tracks can fit on CD. With the computer I have admired sites such as John Wright's, Mike Thomas's, 'egroup' discussions, and the Big Band Database. I was never able to own the books by Brian Rust on UK bands, and similar publications which I cannot afford. I have produced a large database in MS ACCESS detailing those of my interests. In recent years I have been finding out the missing data by looking at second-hand discs and reading articles that I can find. For more information EMail me at: dsah@tsn.cc I have compiled data and lists from many sources which I share and INVITE COMMENTS and desirable additions or changes. A particular project has been to research the International Novelty Orchestra, Brian Rust, Mike Sutcliffe and John Wright have all helped on this. The only discography's I have so far are on Al Bowlly, Organ Dance Band & Me, Chick Henderson, Jim Davidson, Jack Hylton, and Bing Crosby. I would like to have one on each of my favourites. Are any others available? Read about: Other vocal favourites are: Chick Henderson, Sam Browne, Al Bowlly, Denny Dennis, Bing Crosby, and Dick Todd. My present day favourite is Daniel O'Donnell, and in fact I think that he and his band are probably the most accomplished artists of all time on recordings. I like other bands such as: Russ Morgan, Sammy Kaye, Harry Roy, Ambrose, Ray Noble, Lew Stone, Roy Fox, Geraldo, Billy Cotton, Art Mooney, Freddy Martin, Guy Lombardo, and Vaughn Monroe. In recent times I have discovered some very large databases posted on the internet which have been invaluable in providing missing data. Last update 31st January 2005.
