FAMILY HISTORY

My interest in family history commenced in 1989, when I determined to start finding out about my ancestors and to incorporate the data into the computer. Since then many different computer programmes and several systems have been used. The present favoured one is 'Family Tree Maker', of USA origin. It permits any type of image to be imported, and has quite good reports. It will permit reports to be exported to other programmes. The database has become quite large and other family members and relatives have separately worked on their family lines.

The interconnected families are:
The HAMILTON line, The EBERY line, The CLARKE line, The KIRKPATRICK/DALEY line,
The ANDREWS line, The EMSLIE/CRISP line, The MILNER line, The ALFORD/GILLIES line,
The GURLY/SHAW line.

I am a member of the Wauchope District Historical Society, who have a very large amount of files on local and other genealogy matters. They are transferring data and photographs on to CD for better access and more durable storage. They are also entering much of their local family information, at present on paper, into a genealogy programme to permit easier reports to interested people. Booklets and articles are produced on topical items.
