Speak Out !
"why should I
not be able to speak out about this when I have done nothing wrong?"
Exactly! The myths, lies and stereotypes used in the
courtroom and in society do nothing to support the rights of victims, as the
victim of a violent traumatic crime. For those of you have have the
courage to speak out...use it! We must eradicate these myths from society,
remove the ignorance and educate our communities.
Here are some ways you might like to speak out !
- Write to your local, State and Federal members of
parliament
- Speak at your local school to secondary students
- Join an action group
- Attend or organise a Reclaim the Night event
- Donate books to your local school and public
libraries to support victims and survivors of sexual assault
- Organise a support group if there isn't one
already available
- Advocate publically to friends and family for
victims and survivors
- Fundraise for Rape crisis services, support
groups, organisations which support a violent free community for women and
children.
