Welcome! This web site is devoted to lobbying for small
producers of biodiesel who are unable to legally making fuel from used
cooking oil due to government red tape. What
we want: Why
should we be Excise exempt? 1. It is financially unviable to produce biodiesel for your own use
under the Government's current system. 2. The revenue collected will not cover the cost of administering the tax and licensing. Use our tax calculator (open with Excel) to see for yourself!! 3. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel that drastically reduces emissions from
transport. Biodiesel has the lowest emissions of ANY transport fuel according
to the CSIRO and Australian Greenhouse Office. 4. Biodiesel offers diesel vehicle drivers an alternative to fossil
diesel, which is a highly polluting, carcinogenic, expensive fuel that has NO known safe
exposure limit for humans. 5. Biodiesel is a locally produced 'home grown fuel'. It can decrease our dependence on imported
fossil fuel... given we have the chance to make it. 6. LPG, also considered to be an alternative fuel, has enjoyed over 25 years so far without excise! Hence it has been able to become established and compete with traditional fuels. LPG has been readily available to the 10% of Australian motorists who use it, excise free for 25 years! What
needs to happen to achieve excise free status for small biodiesel producers?
How can I help the campaign?
1. The Liberal and Labor parties can make the above changes now or for the next election. At the end of the day they make the rules, tell them what you want.
2. Call, write a letter and visit your locally elected parliamentarian. Keep in contact with them, get there office to make representation to the federal Treasury for you. (Govt & Shadow). Keep calling them, they will help you if you show that your serious, it is there job!
3. Call talk back radio and express your opinion. You can use our 2 page Info Sheet to help you with the issue.
